Her students have played all around the world and on prestigious stages such as Carnegie Hall!

Hello! My name is Helen and I am a native Malaysian currently living in Loma Linda, California. I have been teaching piano ever since I was in college back in Singapore and have found my passion for teaching the new generation of young piano artists. I truly believe in the existence of God through music and look to better my students not only technically and musically, but spiritually. My method of teaching varies with each student as I believe that there is not one method for all musicians.

As a music teacher registered under the Music Teachers’ Association of California, I register my students for their yearly state-wide exam. Along with two annual recitals, these are the three goals that I require my students to reach every year.

Ever since the 90’s, I have held a steady studio of 50 all the way to 76 students.
You must think, “How can she give each student individual attention?”

Let me tell you!

I want to help every student that walks through my door. Whether it be at 06:30 in the morning or midnight, I will give each of my student their individual time. I have a history of using any resource possible to help all my students whether it be working out a check-up lesson or finding them performance opportunities. I am a highly-dedicated educator who believes that each student is not a time-slot, but a human-being that needs my support to achieve their musical goals.

I am supported by my loving husband, Michael who is always there to provide help at any time.
Here is an example. During exam week, he would copy and print out all the mock-tests and assign them to each student and have them come at any time during the day and proctor their trail exams. This way, they experience the exam before it even happens, allowing them all the opportunities to pass with flying colors! He is my rock and I would not be able to have my piano studio if not for him.

I have four children who are all grown-up and with families of their own, except my youngest one.
Sherwin, my oldest son is a first violinist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra who is married to Liz, a cellist in the orchestra. They have three beautiful children, Nicole, Renee, and Jared.
Elena, my oldest daughter is a nurse working at the Loma Linda University Medical Center who is married to Michael, a Physical Therapist who runs a few practices in the San Bernardino area. They have one son, Matthew who is always a joy to be around and Nala, who is the best guard dog for their house!
Gwen, the youngest daughter is a psychologist specializing in autistic spectrum disorders at her own clinic in Pasadena. She is married to Ed, a physical therapist, and has a beautiful daughter named Mia!
Miclen, the youngest of the bunch is currently pursuing his violin career and post-graduate studies in Germany! He is not married and does not have kids or a dog.

I look forward to hearing from you and working with you or your child! Whether your child is 6 or even if you want to rekindle your young musical side, please feel free to contact me!
